Emma Lindley_Innovating Identity_Episode 53

I had the chat to interview Emma in London while we were both at a payments conference next to Tower Bridge.  We hid away in a hotel employee only hallway to escape the noise of the conference.  The looks of confusion we received from hotel staff; me with my headphones on and holding a microphone, and Emma trying not to laugh at the absurdity of the situation does come through at times during the interview.

That all said, Emma is as about a sharp an expert on digital identity as there is in the space today.  Her insights on the difficulty and the far reaching consequences of establishing digital identity standards are well worth the listen alone.

David Brear_The Nick Fury of FinTech_Episode 50

If you haven’t heard of 11:FS, the consultancy / media group founded by David Brear, then you simply aren’t paying attention.  David has assembled a remarkable and talented team for the new company including Simon Taylor and Jason Bates based out of Level 39 in London.

David’s CV speaks for itself.  His past roles include Global Director for Digital at Garner, and multiple leadership roles at Lloyds, HBOS, and Aviva.  But most importantly, Dave’s home office in Norwich rivals my own when in comes to comic book memorabilia.  And he rocks a mean beard.

BTW – Nick Fury is Samuel L. Jackson’s role in “The Avengers” movies.  He put the team together.

Vicki Zhou & Herbert Moore_The Wise Banyans_Episode-36

The ‘startup’ Wise Banyan has received quite a few accolades from industry experts and the media this past year.  All of it well deserving.  The company’s co-founders Vicki Zhou and Herbert Moore are the quintessential fintech founders.  Both are young, urban, bright,  and idealistic entrepreneurs striving to put a dent into the wealth management space.  And they are both a lot of fun to interview.

A little fun fact:  I recommended Herbert name his boat “Moore’s Flaw”.  This will make a hell of a lot more sense once you listen to the podcast.  Enjoy.

Brian Roemmele_The FinTech Voice_Episode-26

Brian Roemmele has a natural affinity for the audio realm – whether this be through his love of music or through his belief that voice would become the next operating system way before this was the “in thing”.  Brian is also a long time and repeat company founder.  He began 1st American Card Service back in 1986, Multiplex Media Corporation in 1995, and now Payfinders in 2014.  And last but not least, he is one of the hosts of one of my one personal favorite podcasts Around the Coin.

Marta Krupińska_Perpetual Expat_Episode-16

The first thing you realize in speaking with Marta Krupińska, the co-founder of the international remittance company Azimo, is her passion for her company and it’s mission.  The second thing you realize is she has, thankfully, no filter.  If you ask a question, any question; she will provide a refreshingly frank and honest opinion on the topic.  So this is your warning.  Some graphic language is used during this interview.

ping-pongAnd yes, Azimo does have a ping pong table in their office that is located over a karaoke bar in London.

EDITORIAL NOTE:  During my interview I stated President-Elect Trump proposed a 35% tax levy against money transfers to Mexico to support building a border wall.  This is incorrect.  President-Elect Trump’s proposal was to ban remittances to Mexico until the Mexican government paid a one-time payment to support building the wall.  Full details of the proposal can be found here.
